My Personal Thriller Favourites and Why.
Jaws: is a Classic Thriller and during its time was seen as one of the best movies made. Directed by Steven Spielberg. In the film, a giant man- eating great white shark attacks a fictional summer resort town in New England, prompting the local police to hunt it with the help of a marine biologist. This is one of my favourite Thriller because its full of suspense and anticipation a. What made it so great is the fear of unknown. The shark never worked properly. It could have been a problem. Spielberg made sure it wasn’t. By inferring the shark’s existence through various techniques – the use of point of view camera shots photographed underwater, the reactions of the characters, the shark’s fin or recognisable props as stand-ins. It was a fantastic ploy that hid the menace in our own imaginations heightening the tension and making the shark’s eventual reveal all that more riveting. Some may argue that the film is now outdated but for its time it was ahead of the times
The Dark Knight:is a 2008 superhero thriller directed, produced and co-written by Christopher Nolan. Featuring Batman. The cast includes Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Heath Ledger, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman. The film is about Bruce wayne/Batman, Harvey Dent and James Gordon who form an alliance which aims to prevent organised crime in Gotham City but are menaced by a criminal mastermind known as the joker who seeks to undermine Batman's influence and create chaos. This is one of my favourite thriller movies because I enjoy the suspense and love all superhero movies. This film is full of action and excitement and when I watched it i was disappointed the film finished as I found it so enticing. The movie is relentless, and I mean that in the best way, the way an action movie should be pulsating with energy, anticipation, and a feeling that everything is important.
Skyfall, (2012)features Daniel Craig in his third performance as James Bond. It was directed by Sam Mendes and written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan. as well as the Academy Award winning theme, "Skyfall" by Adele. The story revolves around Bond investigating an attack on MI6, plotted by former MI6 agent Raoul Silva, to humiliate, disrespect and kill M. Skyfall is the last series of James Bond Judi Dench shall be in having been in 6 previous films. The reason Skyfall is one of my favourite thriller films is because of the high amount of action and car chases involves that grabs my attention as well as the mystery side of the story, trying to figure out the plot and what is going to come next. James Bond is every boys dream being a spy and fighting villains which makes it so gripping to watch.
Gone Girl:is a 2014 American psychological thriller film directed by David Fincher. The screenplay by Gillian Flynn was based on her 2012 novel of the same name. The film stars Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike. Set in Southeast Missouri the story begins as a mystery that follows the events surrounding Nick Dunne, who becomes the primary suspect in the sudden disappearance of his wife, Amy.Pike received a nomination for Best Actress. The film received nominations at the 72nd Golden Globe Awards: Best Director for Fincher, Best Actress in a Drama for Pike, Best Screenplay for Flynn. Pike won the Empire Award for Best Actress. The National Board of Review included the film in their list of top ten films of the year. This is one of my favourite thriller films because the film is so interesting and makes you think about who the "murderer" is. The film is so griping and is full of suspense and anticipation. When the ending came around I was extremely disappointed as I wanted the film to continue. Gone girl is phycological thriller, one that makes you think hard about the storyline.
